RON'S PLAN FOR...
A Safer Annapolis
Ron has spent many years of his career working in public safety – both as a prosecutor and as a law enforcement senior commander. Prioritizing public safety means peace of mind for our community … and keeps us an inviting place for visitors.
ENHANCED FIRE RESCUE. Ward One has the slowest emergency response times in the city, often missing the NFPA standard of four-minutes. That puts our lives at risk. Especially with strokes and heart attacks. We need to staff a fifth rescue unit now. Let's seek federal SAFER grants to fund the new fire/rescue positions for the first three years as we phase them in. If the City Council must prioritize between buying electric ferry boats and new holiday decorations VERSUS staffing a rescue unit which saves lives, my priority will always be public safety.

SUPPORT FOR OUR POLICE OFFICERS. To ensure continued police excellence, and to recruit and retain the most talented officers, we need to be competitive with Anne Arundel County with salary parity for sworn police officers. We also need to ensure that our Police Department never again loses our national CALEA certification of professional excellence, as the senior command staff allowed to occur in 2024-2025. Police leadership needs to respect our rank-and-file officers working on the front lines. And we need to make sure our cops always stay on the cutting-edge of technology, equipment, and public safety training developments.
BIKE LANES. It's time to complete the long-overdue bike lane connectors to make Annapolis streets safer for cyclists.
